Looking for a baby-friendly restaurant in Gwacheon? We visited Unamjung with our toddler and found it surprisingly convenient for a family meal, with a high chair, baby utensils, spacious seating, and unseasoned seolleongtang.
Our honest, first-hand experience: This was not a sponsored visit. We paid for our own meal and are sharing what we actually experienced during our visit with our toddler.

☔ Our Visit to Unamjung
We originally planned to spend the day at the zoo in Gwacheon.
But the weather had other plans. 🌧️
When it started raining, we decided not to force our outdoor plans and looked for somewhere nearby where we could have a proper meal with our toddler.
That’s how we ended up at Unamjung.
One of the first things we noticed was the spacious interior. We had brought our stroller with us, and it was much easier to move around than it would have been in a small, tightly packed restaurant.

What We Ordered: Seolleongtang and Galbitang
We ordered seolleongtang and galbitang for our meal.
Seolleongtang is a Korean beef bone soup with a mild, milky broth, while galbitang is a beef short-rib soup.
One thing that worked particularly well for us was that the seolleongtang broth was not seasoned, so we felt comfortable giving some to our toddler.
When eating out with a young child, finding something simple enough for them to eat can sometimes be the hardest part.
A lot of Korean dishes are seasoned quite strongly, while our toddler still prefers relatively mild food.
So having a simple soup and rice option was very helpful.

We simply put some of the seolleongtang broth into a separate bowl and added some rice for our toddler.

And our toddler?
She ate surprisingly well. 😂
The broth and rice disappeared much faster than we expected.
Our Toddler REALLY Liked the Beef 🥩
But the real star of the meal was definitely the beef.
We gave her some of the beef from the galbitang, and she immediately started eating it.
Then she put a piece straight into her mouth.

And eventually, she decided that using a fork or spoon was completely unnecessary.
She just grabbed the beef and ate it herself.

This was probably the most memorable part of the meal for us.
Our toddler already likes meat, but she seemed particularly enthusiastic about it that day.
For parents, there is something wonderfully peaceful about a restaurant meal when your toddler is happily eating instead of pushing the food away. 😂
What It Was Like Eating Out With Our Toddler
Eating out with a toddler can be unpredictable.
Even when a restaurant looks family-friendly, there are always little things that can make a meal much harder than expected.
Is there somewhere for the baby to sit?
Can we bring a stroller inside?
Are there utensils suitable for a young child?
And perhaps most importantly, is there anything on the menu that our toddler will actually eat?
Fortunately, this meal was relatively easy.
Once we got the high chair set up, our toddler was able to sit comfortably at the table with us.
We gave her a small bowl of seolleongtang and rice, and she was happy to eat on her own for much of the meal.
We didn’t need to bring a separate meal for her, which made things much simpler.
Of course, every toddler is different, and what works for our child may not work for every child.
But for us, having a mild soup, rice, and beef available made this an easy meal to share as a family.
That was probably the biggest advantage of the meal.
We weren’t constantly trying to find something our toddler could eat.
We could simply order our own food and share some of it with her.
High Chair and Baby Utensils Were Available 👶
Another reason the meal felt easy was that a high chair and baby utensils were available.

These may sound like small details, but when you’re eating out with a toddler, they make a real difference.
Without a high chair, you have to figure out where and how your child is going to sit.
Without suitable utensils, you’re suddenly trying to feed a toddler with a regular adult spoon while keeping everything from flying off the table.
So having those things available made the meal more convenient for us.
The staff weren’t overly attentive or constantly checking on us, but they naturally helped with what we needed.
Personally, I actually liked that.
It felt less like we were being treated differently because we had a baby and more like we could simply enjoy our meal.
What Would We Order Again?
If we came back with our toddler, I would probably order the seolleongtang again.
The unseasoned broth made it particularly easy to share with our child, and we could add rice and some of the beef to make a simple toddler-friendly meal.
The galbitang was also a good choice because our toddler really enjoyed the beef.
For adults, ordering both dishes also gave us a little more variety.
We could enjoy the beef and rib dishes while still having something mild enough to share with our toddler.
So if you’re visiting with a young child who enjoys simple food such as rice, soup, and beef, this combination worked well for our family.
Spacious Enough for a Stroller 🛒
The restaurant itself felt quite spacious.
There was enough room around the tables that bringing a stroller inside wasn’t particularly difficult for us.
This is another thing that can make a big difference when eating out with a baby.
A restaurant can technically be “family-friendly,” but if you have nowhere to put a stroller or barely have room to move around the table, the experience can still be stressful.
At Unamjung, we didn’t have that problem.
The spacious interior also made the overall meal feel more relaxed.
I didn’t notice a separate private room during our visit, though, so if you’re specifically looking for a restaurant with a private dining room for a family gathering, that’s something to keep in mind.
Parking Was a Big Plus 🚗
For us, another major advantage was the parking.
The parking area was spacious, which made visiting by car very convenient.
This was especially appreciated because it was raining that day.
When you’re traveling with a toddler, a stroller, a diaper bag, and all the other tiny things that somehow become essential, convenient parking is not exactly a minor detail.
It’s one less thing to worry about.
Unamjung is also near Seonbawi Station, so it is possible to reach the restaurant by public transportation. However, with a toddler and stroller, I would personally choose to drive if a car is available.
Public listings place the restaurant at 519 Jungang-ro, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, near Seonbawi Station. 트립어드바이저
The Restroom Is Inside, But There Is No Changing Table
The restroom is located inside the restaurant, which was convenient.
However, there was no diaper-changing table when we visited.
So if you’re visiting with a baby who still needs diaper changes, this is worth knowing before you go.
For us, it wasn’t a problem during this particular meal, but it’s definitely one of those details I’d want to know in advance when choosing a restaurant with a toddler.
This is also why I wouldn’t describe Unamjung as a restaurant with every possible baby facility.
It worked well for our particular needs, but families with younger babies may have different priorities.
Who I Think Unamjung Is Good For
Based on our experience, I think Unamjung is particularly practical for families who are already visiting the Gwacheon area.
If you’re planning to visit Seoul Grand Park, the zoo, or another attraction nearby, having a spacious Korean restaurant where you can stop for a proper meal can be useful.
I would also recommend it more for families arriving by car.
The spacious parking area made things much easier for us, especially with a toddler and stroller.
If you’re traveling with a baby and a lot of gear, not having to worry too much about parking is a surprisingly big advantage.
It also works well if your child enjoys simple Korean food such as rice, soup, and beef.
I wouldn’t necessarily describe Unamjung as a destination restaurant specifically for families with children.
Rather, I’d call it a practical and comfortable option to keep in mind when you’re already in Gwacheon.
So, Is Unamjung Baby-Friendly?
After actually eating there with our toddler, I’d say yes, it was a convenient option for a family meal, although I wouldn’t describe it as a restaurant equipped with every possible baby facility.
👍 What worked well for us
- High chair available
- Baby utensils available
- Unseasoned seolleongtang broth worked well for our toddler
- Toddler ate the rice, broth, and beef well
- Spacious interior
- Enough room for a stroller
- Large parking area
- Restroom inside the restaurant
👀 Things to keep in mind
- No diaper-changing table
- We did not see a separate private dining room
- Driving is probably more convenient than walking with a toddler
- This is a Korean restaurant rather than a dedicated children’s restaurant
Our Honest Take After Visiting With a Toddler
What I liked most about Unamjung was actually how normal the experience felt.
We weren’t specifically looking for a baby-friendly restaurant that day.
We simply needed somewhere to eat after our rainy-day zoo plans fell through.
But the combination of a high chair, baby utensils, spacious seating, convenient parking, and a mild soup option made the meal much easier than expected.
And, of course, watching our toddler happily eat soup, rice, and then attack the beef was probably the best part. 😂🥩

For us, a good family restaurant doesn’t necessarily need to have a play area, children’s menu, or lots of special facilities.
Sometimes it’s enough to have a comfortable table, a high chair, food that a toddler can actually eat, and enough space that you don’t feel like you’re disturbing everyone around you.
Unamjung checked most of those boxes for us.
There were still a few limitations.
There was no diaper-changing table, and we didn’t see a separate private room.
So I wouldn’t say this is a perfect restaurant for every family situation.
But for a casual lunch with a toddler in Gwacheon, especially if you’re driving, it was a convenient choice.
And considering that we only ended up there because the rain ruined our original zoo plans, it turned out to be a pretty good Plan B. ☔️
Sometimes the unplanned stops end up being the useful ones.
