Finding new activities to enjoy with a toddler in Seoul can be surprisingly difficult.
We wanted to try something different this time, so we decided to give baby yoga in Seoul a try.
Our little one was 21 months old at the time, and she usually takes a little while to warm up to new places. Rather than jumping straight into an activity, she tends to observe everything around her first.
So, honestly, I wasn’t expecting her to follow along with the class from the very beginning. ๐
But as the class went on, she gradually became more comfortable, and watching that little change was probably my favorite part of the experience.

At First: Watching from Mom’s Arms ๐
When the class started, she stayed in my arms and watched the other babies and the instructor.
Since it was her first time in the space and her first time trying yoga, she was very much in observation mode.
She looked around at the room, watched what the other children were doing, and seemed to be taking everything in.
It was almost as if she were saying:
โHmm… I’ll watch for a little while first.โ ๐

And honestly, that felt very much like her. ๐
Slowly Starting to Join In ๐งโโ๏ธ
After a little while, she started getting down on the mat and trying some of the movements herself.
She didn’t follow every movement perfectly, of course. ๐
Sometimes she would copy the instructor, then suddenly look somewhere else. Other times, she would come back to Mom for a little break.
But that wasn’t really the point.
What was fun to see was the transition from simply watching the class to actually trying to participate.
For a toddler experiencing something completely new, that small step felt like a big one.

Looking for More Toddler Activities in Seoul?
Baby yoga was a new experience for us, but it isn’t the only activity we’ve tried with our toddler.
If you’re looking for another fun indoor activity for toddlers in Seoul, we’ve also visited DiKiDiKi, an indoor children’s playground and activity space.

Baby Yoga Is Something Parents Can Do Together ๐ค
One of the things I liked about the class was that it wasn’t an activity where parents simply sat and watched their child.
Parents participated together with their children.
We held our toddler, moved together on the mat, and helped her with some of the movements.
Because of that, the class felt less like a workout specifically for the baby and more like a shared activity for parents and children.
For us, that was one of the nicest parts of the experience.

And Then… Up in Dad’s Arms! ๐
Dad joined us during the class, too.
There was a movement where he lifted her up, and by that point she seemed much more comfortable with everything that was happening.
At the beginning of the class, she had been watching everything from Mom’s arms.
By the end, she was happily participating with Dad.
That little progression was pretty adorable. ๐ค

After Class: Straight Into Dad’s Arms ๐ค
Once the class was over, she immediately settled into Dad’s arms.
At the beginning, she had been cautious about the unfamiliar space and activity. By the end, she had experienced the class together with both Mom and Dad.
It was a small thing, but it made me feel oddly proud.

So, What Did We Think of Baby Yoga?
Since this was our first class, our toddler definitely didn’t follow every movement perfectly.
And I actually think that’s completely fine.
She started by observing the unfamiliar environment, gradually tried a few movements, and eventually became comfortable enough to participate with us.
For parents looking for things to do with a toddler in Seoul, I think baby yoga is worth considering if your child enjoys trying new activities.
The best part wasn’t whether she performed each movement correctly.
It was simply having some time to move, play, and experience something new together.
If your toddler is hesitant in new environments, don’t worry if they spend the first part of the class watching from your arms. That’s exactly what ours did.
Sometimes watching is the first step toward joining in. ๐
