If you’re visiting Seoul with little ones, Lotte World Aquarium in Jamsil is a great place to add to your itinerary. It’s indoors, making it a great option for rainy days or Korea’s hot and humid summers. It’s also stroller-friendly and offers plenty to see and do for kids of all ages.

In this guide, I’ll share everything you need to know before your visit — including how to get there from Jamsil Station, ticket prices, and what to expect once you’re inside.

How to Get to Lotte World Aquarium from Jamsil Station

One thing to know ahead of time: the walk from Jamsil Station to the aquarium entrance takes about 10 minutes. The aquarium isn’t right outside the station, so be sure to allow a little extra time, especially if you’re pushing a stroller or traveling with a tired toddler.

Head toward Exit 2, and you’ll see the entrance to Lotte World Mall. There’s a ramp on the right side of the entrance, which is convenient if you’re using a stroller or wheelchair. No need to worry about stairs here.

One useful landmark to look out for is the Chanel store. When you reach Chanel, turn right and continue straight along the passage between the Chanel store and Seoul Sky.

From here, it’s about a 7–8 minute walk. Just keep going straight, and you’ll eventually see the entrance to Lotte World Aquarium.

The walk may feel a little long when you’re with young children, but the route is indoors and stroller-friendly, which is especially helpful on rainy or hot days in Seoul.

Grabbing Snacks Before You Go In

If your kids are already asking for a snack or a drink, don’t worry! there are two easy stops along the way for water or snacks: Weeny Beeny, a candy shop, and a 7-Eleven convenience store. Both are handy for grabbing something quick before you head in.

Walk Through Rivers of the Rainforest

Walking through Rivers of the Rainforest, a freshwater tunnel leading toward the Main Tank.

Before you reach the Main Tank, the walkway takes you through Rivers of the Rainforest — a tunnel filled entirely with freshwater species. It’s a slow-moving crowd here, which works in your favor: there’s plenty of time to stop and point out the giants swimming by, like the pirarucu, giant freshwater catfish, and piranha. It’s a striking, moody stretch that sets the tone nicely before the big reveal of the Main Tank.

Dive Into the Blue at the Main Tank

The Ocean — the aquarium’s signature space and the big moment kids have been waiting for.

This is the heart of the aquarium, officially called The Ocean, and it’s usually the biggest “wow” moment for kids. The tank is massive, with a huge glass wall that lets little ones get right up close to the action. The lighting is dim and blue-toned, which gives the whole space a calm, underwater feel — a nice contrast to the busy mall just outside.

Keep an eye out for the larger fish gliding by slowly; toddlers especially love pointing and following them across the glass. It’s also one of the few spots roomy enough for strollers to park comfortably while you take it all in.

Meet the Beluga

For a lot of visiting families, this is the main event. Belugas aren’t something you see every day, and watching one up close — with that unmistakable rounded head and gentle expression — tends to be the highlight of the visit for both kids and parents. Give yourself extra time here; it’s worth just standing and watching for a while rather than rushing through.

More Friends to Meet Along the Way

A few more favorites from the rest of the aquarium.

Beyond the main attractions, there’s plenty more to see. The penguins are always a hit with kids — waddling around and diving into the water in a way that never fails to get a laugh. The capybaras are another favorite, usually looking about as relaxed as an animal can look, which makes them fun to simply sit and watch for a while.

And don’t rush past the coral reef tank — it’s one of the most colorful and photogenic corners of the aquarium, with vibrant fish weaving in and out of the coral.

Between the feeding talks mentioned earlier and these smaller exhibits, there’s easily enough to keep a family busy for a full visit.

Inside the baby care area — a private nursing room, microwave, water dispenser, two diaper-changing stations, and two baby chairs.

For parents traveling with infants, there’s a dedicated baby care area with:

It’s located on B1F, right next to the SEA TABLE café — so once you’ve taken care of the baby, you can grab a drink or ice cream right next door. Handy for a quick break for both you and your little one.

At the end of the exhibit route, you’ll pass through the AQUA SHOP — the aquarium’s gift shop. It’s stocked with plush toys, balloons, and stationery, making it a favorite last stop for kids before you head out.
